I received my Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Wichita State University and my Bachelor of Science Degree at Syracuse University in Speech-Language Pathology. At Syracuse I worked in the Tully, NY school system in the elementary schools.

Experience

I worked as a Speech and Language Therapist for 30+ years, in Early Intervention, working with infants and toddlers to increase all of their communication skills, by working directly with them and their families. I also worked with children in Pre-school and Kindergarten and Elementary School. The language skills I taught included, but were not limited to early Receptive and Expressive Language, Phonics, Vocabulary, Spelling, Grammar, and early Reading and Writing Skills. As I say on my website: "Very young children learn through play and "play" has been my business for over 30 years! A child learns best in a teaching relationship based on a bond of trust. I always keep that in mind when working with a child. These skills make me uniquely qualified to work, especially with children in the early grades of school. I have also worked with children and adults for whom English was not their native language. I taught ESL in Israel, earlier in my career. I am available for helping with English speaking and writing skills. Because of my background in linguistics and language I am excellent at Proof Reading and Editing, making me available to students in college and people in business who need to improve their Writing Skills and/or have their reports or any form of writing proof read and edited.

Hobbies

Along with working in the field of Early Childhood Education, I have always been an active advocate for the Zero to Three population, which has informed my teaching of All children, regardless of age. I also have a passion for reading books, not only personally but also reading with children. Language itself is a passion of mine. I love the Theater and have always subscribed to the quote: "Good teaching is one-fourth preparation and three-fourths pure theatre".
